Walter Hansel 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Russian River, 2010
Walter Hansel 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Russian River, 2010
Walter Hansel
Pale yellow in color. Pungent grapefruit rind, green papaya and white pepper on the nose. Juicy and spicy in the mouth, with a subtle sweetness and excellent cut and precision to the citrus and exotic fruit flavors. Assertive, citrus-dominated finish.

Wine Advocate
"These are consistently terrific wines, seemingly regardless of vintage conditions. Moreover, they are realistically priced and consumers couldn't have a better friend than proprietor Stephen Hansel."
E. Robert Parker, February 2010.

International Wine Cellars
90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Light, bright yellow. Fresh melon and tangerine aromas are brightened by lemon zest and honeysuckle. Light-bodied but fleshy honeydew and citrus flavors are nicely concentrated and incisive. Shows very little in the way of herbal character; in fact, this is seriously fruit-driven for the variety. A suave, very attractive rendition of sauvignon blanc that finishes sappy and clinging, with refreshing bitterness and very good length." (May/June 11).

The Story

Walter Hansel Winery farms 80 acres of grapes and produces roughly 5,000 cases of Pinot Noir; 5,500 cases of Chardonnay; and 1,500 cases of Sauvignon Blanc.

All of our wines are Estate grown; our vineyard designated wines are an expression of the character of the variety of grape clone and how it integrates with the individual soils, elevations and climate environment. These wines are intended to vary in flavor, acidity and to a lesser degree, texture.

Our Estate wines (i.e., non-vineyard designated offerings) are a blend of many clones from a variety of vineyard locations. They are designed to be the most approachable wines at a young age.
