Cardinale Red Wine 1999
Classic Cabernet Sauvignon flavors and bountiful aromas of ripe blackberry, dark chocolate, tobacco and slight rosemary deliver through to the palate. This is a structurally dense wine with very approachable entry tannins. The flavors carry over to focused tannins on a lengthy finish, providing a wonderful combination of power and sophistication. Drink now for power, with ability to hold for 10-15 years. Wine Advocate The terrific 1999 (a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot) possesses a murky purple color as well as a sweet nose of vanilla, Asian spices, licorice, and blackberry/currant fruit. The wine is full-bodied, dense, and chewy, with moderately high tannin. This large-scaled, pure red will handsomely repay cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020+. Score: 93. —Robert Parker, August 2002.Wine Spectator Seductive earth, currant and spices lead to a smooth, supple-textured, richly flavored wine, with layers of currant, blackberry, coffee, mocha and mineral. Turns elegant and sophisticated, with hints of anise and cedar. Well-integrated tannins suggest short-term cellaring. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2004 through 2012. Score: 92. —James Laube, February 28, 2003. |
