Brewer Clifton Mount Carmel Pinot Noir 2005
Wine Advocate A dead ringer for a DRC Echezeaux, the 2005 Pinot Noir Mount Carmel exhibits a medium ruby hue as well as a big, expansive aromatic display of forest floor, sweet cherries, pomegranate, fresh mushrooms, and spring flowers. Fabulous fruit, a silky mouthfeel, a long, heady richness, full body, and moderate tannin suggest this Burgundian-styled California beauty should drink well for 12-15+ years. Score: 94. —Robert Parker, August 2007. Wine Enthusiast The complex aromaa of this dramatic young wine is of mushrooms and wet tree bark, wintergreen, cloves, nutmeg and anise, and fruitier notes of cherries, cola and pomegranates. The mouth is very complex, too, with a finish of intensely pure cherries. But the wine is young and tannic. It will be best after 2008, and should drink well for at least another five years. Score: 94. —Steve Heimoff, April 01, 2007. |
