Enkidu Odyssey Vineyard Syrah 2004
A very warm September helped to fully develop the grapes for our inaugural vintage from Odyssey. One word best describes these wines – complex. Rich, balanced and flavorful are also characteristics for this unique wine. The aromas leap from the glass and offer black cherry, green olive, smoked meat, roses, orange rind, and occasionally white pepper. The flavors mirror the aromas and contribute toasted oak and nectarine. The body is rich and balanced, the finish is long. This wine continues to evolve and seems to gain complexity every month. Wine Advocate This impressive new producer has turned out some attractive reds that merit serious attention. The 2004 Syrah Odyssey Vineyard exhibits the silky tannins and up-front fruit that make this vintage so attractive. Abundant quantities of smoky, white chocolate, blackberry, and cassis notes along with a touch of subtle wood emerge from this deep, medium to full-bodied, supple Syrah.
