D.R. Stephens Hudson Vineyard Chardonnay 2005
Perhaps slightly more complex than previous releases, the 2005 D.R Stephens Chardonnay shows a broad array of ripe fruit aromas, ranging from tropical fruit (mango, papaya) to stone fruit (peach/apricot) and some perfumed honey/pear/beeswax notes as well. On the palate the fruit character is surrounded by notes of yeast, toasty oak, vanilla, and a hint of caramel, with a lingering impression of fresh peach nectar. The fruit for this wine came entirely from the Hudson Vineyard in Carneros, Napa Valley, and was harvested in early October, 2005. It combines three clones of Chardonnay to create a complex, multi-dimensional impression. |
