Leonetti Cellar
I don't think you'll find a prettier Cabernet-based wine from anywhere. Our Reserve is as dark as they come. The nose opens with an intense cassis, broadens to a bouquet of complex floral, and on second sniffs, reveals cedar, smoke, black fruit compote, and earth. It's just an enchantingly complex nose. On the palate it's no less gratifying - incredibly dense, but with wonderfully supple tannin, a glycerin-like sweetness, and incredible length. This wine will reward the patient drinker who can hide it in some corner of their cellar. If you're not that patient, you will be ecstatic nonetheless.
Wine Advocate
The 2007 Reserve is composed of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, and 9% Cabernet Franc aged for 23 months in new and seasoned French oak. Deep purple colored, it displays aromas of pain grille, earth notes, espresso, violets, black currant, and blackberry. Dense and rich on the palate with restraint and elegance, this length effort will reward 5-7 years of pateince from those who buy it. Score: 96 - Jay Miller, August 2010.
Wine Enthusiast
At first blush this reserve seems more oaky, more open and more overtly alcoholic that the just-released Leonetti 2008 Merlot and 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon. After many hours of breathing time it fill in with pretty plummy fruit, toast, caramel, whiffs of smoke, cedar and cigar box, and dry tannins. Score: 93 - P.G. August 2010.
