Erna Schein 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Knock Out Napa Valley, 2006
Erna Schein 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Knock Out Napa Valley, 2006

Behrens Family Winery

The Knock Out delivers a powerful 1-2 punch. Upfront, this wine is big and bold with aromas of all spice and clove. Round 2: the mid-palate is thick with flavors of chocolate, blueberries, espresso and plum cake. This all rounds into a pretty finish of cedar and vanilla. Throw in the towel, and drink it til you hit the mat! and lovely length. A more refined expression of Cabernet than the 2006.
Wine Advocate

The 2006 Erna Schein Knock-Out offers smoky, meaty, black currant, bay leaf, and foresty characteristics. Deep, rich, and full-bodied with elevated glycerin, heady alcohol, and a lusty, hedonistic finish, this attention-getting red should be consumed over the next 7-8 years. Score: 92 - Robert Parker, December 2008.

Wine Spectator

Intense and structured, with spicy currant, cedar, cigar box and dried berry fruit that's tightly wound, full-bodied and focused, ending with hints of licorice and nutmeg. Drink now through 2017. Score: 92 - James Laube, February 2009.

The Story
In 2005, with the announcement of Bob & Lily’s retirement, Lisa and Les bought out the Hitchcocks' share of their Spring Mountain winery, leading to the formation of Erna Schein Handcrafted Wines. The name Erna Schein is a dedication to Les’ mother, a woman who was near and dear to all who knew her. Her home was a place of hospitality and friendship, a feeling that we try to replicate here at the winery. She was also a fantastic baker, taking after her mother who was a Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef. It is Erna’s original vintage Kitchen Aid pictured on our label. It reminds us that food and wine is our favorite way to create and maintain friendships.
