Crocker & Starr 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place Napa Valley, 2007
Crocker & Starr 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place Napa Valley, 2007

Crocker & Starr

This wine comes from gravely soil, that originates from the lower slopes of the Mayacamas. This Cab is all about bringing out the extract of the soil. Look for a dense black/purple rim in the glass. Vibrant black currant and dark cherry are followed by raspberry, vanilla, lavender and stones. The mid-palate brings exotic notes of cocoa, espresso bean, dried lavender and rose petals, while moving into the finish with minerality, spice and cigar box. The 2007 vintage is young and concentrated and should evolve beautifully for the next decade and a half. Opulent, intensity and power are the hallmarks of our 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wine Advocate

Perhaps the best wine I have ever tasted from Crocker & Starr in the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place. One hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in French oak, this 500 cases cuvee from the organically managed Stone Place Vineyard is a dense ruby/purple color, with a classic nose of un-smoked cigar tobacco intermixed with blackberries, licorice, subtle barbecue smoke, and cassis. A gorgeous, full-bodied texture, excellent purity, and well-integrated acidity, wood, and tannin all make for a thrilling wine to drink over the next 15-20 years. Score 95+ - Robert Parker, December 2010.

Charlie Crocker, the owner
Charlie Crocker acquired his family vineyards, the basis of the fabulous Crocker and Starr wines, in St. Helena during the early 1970's. The property has been a family home base ever since, and its continual development and improvement has been a family labor of love.  Born in San Francisco, Charlie has known and delighted in the Napa Valley since the early 1950's. His business career has been extensive and has taken him all over the world. He has started, managed and grown two public companies, and has run a successful private investment firm. He has also developed a number of Napa Valley vineyards over the years, all sold to major wineries.
Charlie and Pam share a love of wines made in the subtle style of Bordeaux, and the two partners are dedicated to producing some of the finest wine in the world.
