The Jazz quartet is fronted by Napa Valley Zinfandel (40%), Petite Sirah (20%), Syrah (20%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). Ours chops have matured with this vintage, and this mastery of composition begins with harmonious fruit on the nose, segues to refined melodies of black-plum, dark berries, and coffee notes on the palate, and brings down the house with a purposeful symmetry of tannins and acidity at the finish.

The Story
Branham Estate Wines began in 1994 with the planting of the Branham Rockpile Vineyard. Purchased in 1989, the ranch consists of 240 acres of wilderness located in Northwest Sonoma County. Once a part of the historic Rock Pile Ranch the land is included in one of Sonoma County's newest AVAs Rockpile. Three acres of Zinfandel are actively producing fruit. I planted 6 acres of Zinfandel, and Petite Sirah in 2004, with viable fruit a couple of more years away. In 1997, the Branham Obsidian Vineyard was purchased.

This vineyard is located along the Napa River near the Silverado Trail and Bale Lane in the heart of the Napa Valley. This vineyard consists of Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 1986. In 2004 60% of the acreage was replanted with new clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah--the first vintage from these vines will be 2007.

In 1999 I gained "viticulture control" of the Aves Vineyard in St. Helena. The Zinfandel vines at Aves are 38-years old, dry farmed and produce delicious wines. These three vineyards represent the heart and soul of Branham Estate Wines. I grow 80% of all fruit utilized in my wines. My first wine produced under the Branham label was the 1999 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. I am dedicated to producing high quality, handcrafted wines, from estate grown grapes.
