Our Wines

As the vines have developed we have discovered that our vineyard blocks yield quite different flavors and characteristics. This has enabled us to bring out five wines from our vineyard. We have a blend of the vineyard blocks, called Kite's Rest, which we believe is the optimal mix of the clones on the property..
Block Designated, Single Vineyard Pinot Noir.
From the vineyard to the cellar, our goal is to craft wines that are a delight to drink and a distinct expression of our vineyard's individual blocks. To that end, we vinify the lots separately by clone and vineyard block, treating all wine to the same winemaking protocol. Not only does this provide winemaker Jeff Gaffner with the best blending options, but it insures that the site's singular "fingerprint" is revealed in the final wine.

The Vineyard

Black Kite Cellars is dedicated to reaching the pinnacle of what Pinot Noir can be-a marvelously aromatic and flavorful wine. We are committed to quality and this is reflected in the limited number of cases released.

We're named for the beautiful but endangered Black Shouldered Kite that is native to the Anderson Valley. These incredible hawks can frequently be seen circling the skies over our vineyard.
