Zeitgeist

Incredibly dark, the 2008 Zeitgeist is replete with notes of spice, soft wood tones and dried herb. Rich scents of mahogany, hazelnut and blackberry compote fill the imagination even before it touches your lips. It is both smooth and powerful on first taste and its wide, even body rolls gently over your palate. Classic, dark flavors of licorice and clove accentuate the wine’s masculine concentration. It is dense, yet lithe and finishes with warm, suave tannins.

Zeitgeist: The Wine.
In pursuit of fine wine at fair prices, we employ conscientious selection at each step while doing the work ourselves. We’ve committed to two carefully chosen vineyards, sort vigilantly through the fruit at harvest, and bottle only the best barrels. Our goal is to be thoughtful in our approach and simple in our methods. We make each exceptionally small batch of wine ourselves and guide them carefully through fermentation and aging at Behrens Family Winery in St. Helena. Zeitgeist Cellars makes small batch wines in and around Napa Valley. It was wholly conceived and is operated by Mark Porembski and Jennifer Williams. Zeitgeist Cabernet is a combination of two distinct Napa Valley vineyards: one from the warm St. Helena climate and the other from the later ripening Coombsville area of east Napa. The union of these unique sites allows for an incredibly complex wine. Although we get similar amounts of fruit from each vineyard, the final ratio changes depending on the best tasting blend for that vintage.
