Far Niente

Aromas of Meyer lemon, toasted nuts and fig are supported by the underlying sweetness of honeysuckle. The entry is honeyed with ripe citrus, light melon and well-integrated nuttiness and a touch of mineral. A rich, full midpalate with balanced acidity draws out into a long finish.

2008 - Crisp, flinty and tightly wound. A sour melon, pineapple and leesy-citrusy edge gives this a fresh, vibrant mouth-feel, ending with a sour green apple flavor that's clean and refreshing. Drink now through 2014. Score: 89 - James Laube, July 2010.

The Story

Far Niente was founded in in the Napa Valley in 1885 and flourished until it was abandoned in 1919 with the onset of Prohibition. Sixty years later, Gil and Beth Nickel came to the valley and not only revived Far Niente, but helped launch the movement to place Napa Valley wines among the best in the world. We dedicate our winemaking efforts to producing estate bottled Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, to making wines of uncompromised quality and to the art of winemaking in tis highest form.
