TASTING NOTES
The 1999 Cabernet displays substantial cassis and dark blackberry aromas that are mirrored on the palate with the extra density and depth that come from an excellent vintage and low vineyard production. The lush ripeness marries particularly well with the toasty char of the French oak. This wine has all the layers and structure typical of Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon.
VINEYARD NOTES
Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon is grown primarily in our estate Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville. This 100-acre vineyard produces wines that exhibit the cassis, blackberry and “dusty” components typical of wines grown in the soils of western Oakville.

The Philosophy

Since our first vintage of Chardonnay in 1979 and the introduction of Cabernet Sauvignon in 1982, Far Niente has held true to its philosophy of producing estate wines with a consistent house style.

While many wineries make wine at several different quality levels, Far Niente produces one Chardonnay and one Cabernet Sauvignon of the highest quality possible from our estate vineyards; if the wine doesn’t meet expectations, it doesn’t make the final blend.

We attribute our twenty-plus years of resounding success as a highly regarded Napa Valley winery to our pursuit of these exacting standards and commitment to quality without compromise.
