The Ranch is our second label, and has taken the role of Lost Vineyard in our lineup. This wine is made from estate fruit, and consists of lots within our vineyards that are specially designated for our second label, as well as wine that is declassified from the Reserve program. By design, this wine is ready to table sooner than our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, and consists of the same blending grapes; Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
Wine Spectator Dense, rich and concentrated, with a firm core of dried currant, mocha-laced oak, sage, mineral and hazelnut notes, finishing with a long, intense, focused and persistent finish. Best from 2010 through 2016.—J.L. Score: 92. —James Laube, February 20, 2008.Wine Advocate The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon The Ranch is an outstanding example of Napa Cabernet at a realistic price point. Dark black currant fruit intermixed with some smoke, tobacco leaf, and licorice is followed by a ripe, medium to full-bodied wine with velvety texture, beautiful opulence, and a nice, natural mouthfeel. It should drink beautifully for 10-15 years.Drink 2007 - 2022 Score: 90. —Robert Parker, December 2007.
