Archipel 94% Sonoma County, 6% Napa County. Ripe aromas of cassis, black cherry and cedar open to background notes of black licorice and cocoa. The palate mirrors the aromas amidst a rich, firmly structured texture and lengthy finish. Wine Advocate The 2003 Archipel (55% Merlot, 29.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15.7% Cabernet Franc) is cut from the same cloth as the 2002. Attractive, forward, luscious, and hedonistic, this deep ruby-colored 2003 exhibits medium to full body, silky tannin, and plenty of fruit as well as character. It will drink well for 7-8 years. Score: 91 - Robert Parker, February 2005.

Pierre Seillan, winemaker Pierre Seillan started in the wine industry at his family’s estate in Armagnac, France. From there he learned to farm Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and later Cabernet Franc at Château de Targe in the Loire Valley. Pierre then spent two decades in Bordeaux working at several châteaux for Raoul and Jean Quancard. It was there that his curiosity grew beyond the grand cru vineyard sites to specific blocks of vineyards that consistently produced the best fruit. This“micro-cru” approach has since come to form the backbone to Pierre’s winemaking philosophy..
